Three towns off the beaten track, and something different to visit are Sorano, Sovana and Pitigliano. Sorano is a town perched on the side of a rocky hill, filled with narrow alleys. Nearby is a fascinating antique cave town which dates back to Etruscan times. Sovana is a classic medieval village and still has all the original characteristics. Finally, Pitigliano, sometimes called 'Little Jerusalem' as it once has a large Jewish community, is on the edge of a hill and towers above the valley below. It has a past dating back to Etruscan and Roman times and the narrow streets of the historical center are filled with history.
